Electrical Storms

Posted: April 29, 2011 by SConnor in Uncategorized

A couple day ago, we had a heat electrical storm. The next day, my computer had a blue screen. At first, I didn’t think anything of this besides that I probably had a virus somewhere on my hard drive. As the next day rolls on, I have found out from my other friends that they were having similar problems if not, they were having problems in general with their computer. For some reason, this makes me want to perform a science project and call it: “Do Electrical Storms brought in by heat cause disturbances in electronics?”

Spongebob. A kids show?

I’m sure you all know of the cartoon on nick that is about a yellow sponge named “Spongebob”. Normally, one would think this is a kids show. Even if it were, I still watch it today because it is a hilarious show. I don’t think Spongebob is in any way a kids show. I feel like they use big words randomly that a young child won’t understand. Another thing are the subliminal messages put in the show. For example, there was one episode where Patrick Star heard about a curse by reading it on a dumpster. He told Spongebob about it and told him it was a “word enhancer”. So for this whole episode you see Patrick and Spongebob cursing but having it *bleeped* out by dolphin sounds. Also at the end, Spongebob and Patrick were told that those were bad words. Mr. Krabs yelled all “13 bad words” at the end of the show but also having it *bleeped* out by dolphin noises. There are other episodes where they do things reflecting in drugs as well. So, if you had to chose between kids show and college show, what would you pick?

Here are some subliminal messages. Spongebob.

South Park is a poorly animated cartoon about current events. This show can pretty much get away with anything from bad language to nudity that just looks plain wrong with the characters they use. Are there pros and cons for this show? I like to think so. Even tho they premiere shows that deal with the current times by tweaking it and making it funny and sometimes even make fun of celebrities like Paris Hilton and Britney Spears. This is a con for the show because it makes bad imagines of people but also a pro because they make it funny but also because they keep their show updated on what happening on the news in the world. So… South Park a good or bad show? Could be both but in my opinion it is a pro since it does not effect or harm me.

Seasonal Theory

So, we have all noticed the cold temperatures and some snow fall during March, even after the spring date hit of 3/21/2011. Last time I remembered, spring isn’t supposed to be a custom to cold weather. Why is this happening? I guess we can blame global warming for this but what else does this mean? Here is my opinion. I believe since we are having a longer than expected winter, does this mean our summer will be extended through fall and maybe some parts of the winter months too? If so I don’t mind too much about this cold march but that could also mean a COLDER and more severe winter next year. We have already seen the huge blizzard in December of 2010. What does winter 2011-12 have to offer us? Please post your opinions.

South Park

Is South Park a good source of entertainment? The very controversial t.v. show called South Park is a poorly animated show that have many seasons published with many more to come. This show includes violence, bad language and much more that parents would come to the conclusion that they would not want their kids watching this show in which they shouldn’t being that it is for mature audiences only. Is South Park making us dumber by watching it? Most people say yes because of the “idiotic” things that happen on the show. I believe not however. This show is mostly based on current events that happen in real time and the people over at South Park studios just take the news and put a twisted humor to it. I believe this show is a great form of entertainment for all mature audiences. It is not only funny to watch, but it gives you the gist on what is going on with real world news on occasion. I were to recommend watching this show to all the people who don’t for negative reasons of their own.

Bieber talks sex, politics and puberty

Posted: February 16, 2011 by SConnor in Uncategorized

I have recently read an article from CNN titled: Bieber talks sex, politics and puberty. I am not a Justin Bieber fan, but reading that headline kind of made me want to read the article, so I did. At first, he talks about love/sex. He tells the press that “I don’t think you should have sex with anyone unless you love them”. I agree with this to a certain extent being that having sex is also a part of experience and growing up. Being that Bieber hasn’t hit puberty yet, I don’t think hes gonna stay with that phrase. Another thing could be that, since he is a start, is that how he really feels about the subject, or is that just what Hollywood is telling him to say? We won’t know for sure until his voice drops and his “lovely talented voice” turns from a soprano to an alto. When it comes to politics, he starts off with saying that America is evil. Such a young critic, I thought but then again he has a lot of growing up to do.

Diet Coke: Good or Bad?

Posted: February 9, 2011 by SConnor in Uncategorized

Diet Coke is one of the many products of the Coca-Cola company. Many drink it more often than coke because it says “diet” on the front and they are fooled to drink it because of a “diet plan”. Study’s show that diet coke becomes addicting to frequent consumers because of the caffeine. One story that I have seen was shown on ABC News. One woman was interviewed; the results were that diet coke became apart of her life like drinking water. She has been known to drink 12 Diet Cokes a day. “It is my water” she says. Being that it gets you addicted fast, it also gives you fast withdrawal symptoms leading to disturbed sleeping patterns. Another study found that the acid inside the soda will also result in bad bone health. Little advice for this women and any other diet coke fan. Don’t get to cracked up on this stuff. Soon enough you could get addicted and be stuck on it.
