Posted: May 6, 2011 by aredd91 in Uncategorized

The nice weather isn’t the only thing being celebrated in America this week, with the breaking news of Osama bin Laden’s finding and killing sent the nation into an uproar of celebration. Meanwhile after reviewing computer files and documents seized at the compound where Osama bin Laden was killed, American intelligence analysts have concluded that the chief of Al Qaeda played a direct role for years in plotting terror attacks from his hide-out in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The documents showed that bin Laden was in constant contact with his fellow terror network however the killer did not much of a role within any of Al Qaeda’s recent and future operations. The documents include a handwritten notebook from February 2010 that discusses tampering with tracks to derail a train on a bridge, possibly on Christmas, New Year’s Day, the day of the State of the Union address or the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, officials said. But they said there was no evidence of a specific plot.

Musical Mayhem to Miami

For the 13th consecutive year Miami was overwhelmed with over 100,00o people gathering to party in celebration of the worlds biggest 3 day dance-music event: the famous Ultra Music Festival. The event is stage to some of electronica’s most brilliant DJ’s, such as David Guetta, Deadmau5, The Chemical Brothers, Sasha, Moby, Ferry Corsten, MSTRKRFT, Benny Benassi, Afrojack and Kaskade, just to name a few. Bristish superstar DJ, Carl Cox who has hosted his own tent for the past seven years at Ultra and handpicks acts to preform alongside him had this to say about the musical jubilee:

“I love the idea that they can basically play what they want,” he says. “They don’t have to play the big hit records; they don’t have to play old-school or new-school. I booked these DJs because I believe in their musical ideas. I feel that they can represent themselves and go a little bit further, knowing that they’ve got a bit more of an open-minded crowd that are in the tent to listen to what the DJ really has got in his record box.”

The incredible sensational celebration was yet another addition to the phenomenon Ultra brings to the party city of Miami. I have never been to the concert personally although I have tried on several occasions to purchase the tickets they’ve either always have been sold out or too pricey. This year tickets were on sale with prices ranging anywhere from $200-$500, guess like most things in life everything has a price, and apparently partying hard is no exception.

In a matter of weeks the world has not been able to keep their eyes off the slow collapse and demise of Charlie Sheen’s reputation, name and career.  While he’s busy tweeting about his goddesses or as he likes to see them his children’s caretakers, warlocks, rocket fuel, and tigers, it’s no surprise while the world is so captured by the actors irrational behavior, you never know what he’s going to do next. But you can’t deny, despite the hateful press erupting from the media and public, Mr. Sheen and his outrageous antics have created a worldwide phenomenon:

Sheen seems to be on a one-man multi-media campaign. What it’s about, we don’t know yet. But so far, the hashtag is right. He is #winning. Not only did he break Twitter records, Spike TV is rolling out an animated show about him. Sirius Radio dedicated an entire channel to him.

Sheen has drawn in over 100,000 viewers to his webcast, and in less than a week has set off an unheard twitter record of having over 2 million followers…so say what you want but this alleged irrational maniac  but you’ve got to admit it, the guy knows how to keep an audience on their toes.

Technology Transforming Hollywood

The new year of 2011 isn’t the only thing new lately, the journey and competition with making it onto the big screen in Hollywood has also had some new changes of their own as far as casting is concerned. Technology is so advanced now that directors can literally get opinions from the fan before filming even begins. With this change also brings more opportunity for more unknown talent in the world, more of the undiscovered now have the opportunity that countless people never were given in the past. Take Hailee Steinfed (pictured above) for example, the 14 year old star of “True Grit” found out about the audition through audition videos on a public Web page that read “no experience necessary”.That Web page and after beating out 10,000 women for the part, Steinfed now prepares for the Oscars this Sunday.

New technology is allowing casting directors to put out the call—and instantly filter the results—without leaving their offices in Los Angeles or New York. Such tools have made national or international talent searches standard procedure, and allow increasingly plugged-in fans to follow casting decisions—and possibly sway them—with the zeal of fantasy football players.

Revolt Silences “Social Media Giant”

While some may say Facebook is illegality the leader of the revolts in Tunisia and Egypt, many would think the mega network would take this frenzy as an example to show just how enormous their influence has become throughout the globe, instead they are keeping a tight seal on their feelings towards the event and do not wish to comment on what is taking place.

The social media giant finds itself under countervailing pressures after the uprisings in the Middle East. While it has become one of the primary tools for activists to mobilize protests and share information, Facebook does not want to be seen as picking sides for fear that some countries — like Syria, where it just gained a foothold — would impose restrictions on its use or more closely monitor users, according to some company executives who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were discussing internal business.
