The Royal Wedding

Today is the day the world has been waiting for: The Royal Wedding.

For those who may be living under a rock or who haven’t turned on their television, Prince William is marrying Kate Middleton, who will in the future become the next Queen of England. This is a big deal, because the last woman in her shoes was Princess Diana thirty years ago.

It’s pretty exciting to see the world unify over such a happy event, but part of me thinks the reaction to Kate Middleton is the world’s eager yet desperate attempt to project their hopes and dreams that were once associated with Diana onto Kate, who is now the Duchess of Cambridge.

Perhaps I’m reading too far into it, but if you turn on the news today, likely this is the ONLY story that will be covered, and in fact, it will probably dominate news coverage until Monday.

In any event, a historical wedding is taking place today, and if you happen to have the time, take a minute to watch history take place.
