Facebook Movie Rentals

Posted: March 8, 2011 by clgiblin in Uncategorized

Warner Brothers became the first media company to offer a movie rental on Facebook. It is offering the film “The Dark Knight” and can be paid for by using Facebook Credits. It costs 30 Facebook Credits, or 3 dollars, to rent this film and is available 48 hours after purchase. This movie rental through Facebook is a test by Warner Brothers and they may make other movies available through Facebook over time. Some analysts see this transition of movies on Facebook as a threat to Netflix, which is the leading service at the moment. Netflix has taken business from ordinary video stores. Will Facebook take business from Netflix just as fast?
